Prickling In the Extremities

If you have anxiety often or suspect that you are having an anxiety attack, you may feel prickling in your hands or feet. This can cause pain in your extremities; however, you can reduce this pain by exercising regularly and do some muscle stretching. The tingling is caused by nerve damage, so when you’re working out, you will improve the circulation in your body and strengthening your muscles.

Exercise will also help your breathing, thus decreasing the likelihood of having shortness of breath when you are under extreme stress.  Try jogging or running for minimum 30 minutes per day, or using free weights in order to strengthen the muscles in your arms and legs.

Sleeping Problems

Another anxiety symptom can be lack of sleep or it can even be the opposite; too much sleep. Let’s say you go to sleep at a decent hour but wake up many times during the night or you go to sleep early and sleep for 10 hours or more, this could be a symptom of severe anxiety.

Your physician may be able to prescribe medication that will help you to sleep through the night. You may also try natural remedies such as valerian root or 5-HTP at your local health food store. These natural remedies can play a vital role in your anxiety self help regimen by raising your serotonin levels, thus giving you the ability to deal with stress in a more healthy fashion throughout the day.
